Correspondence and manuscripts; chiefly the drafts and final version of Benjamin's book "Man of the West" published by the Arizona Historical Society. Correspondence between Henry Jaastad and the Society between 1917 and 1934 involves biographical information. Biographical note: Architect and Tucson Mayor; Henry O. Jaastad came to Tucson in 1902 and opened an architecture practice after completing a course of study. In 1924, he was elected to the Tucson City Council for two terms; in 1933, he was elected Mayor and served for fourteen years. Brothers Benjamin and Henry Jaastad came to Arizona from Norway in 1906 and 1902, respectively. Benjamin researched and published a biography of George Washington Oaks; Henry was a well-known architect who designed many buildings throughout Arizona and New Mexico.
